Will I get splinters?
Not from our Sculptures. A significant portion of the sculpting process is dedicated to smoothing and polishing our toys, and then we seal the wood with our impermeable polymer coating. Why is the sealant important? When carved wood comes into contact with moisture, it absorbs those fluids and becomes rough, bumpy and even splintery. Most wood sealants considered ‘food safe’ will break down or dissolve over time, so we spent a long time searching for a sealant to make our wood waterproof and body safe. We’re delighted with the sealants’ performance - we’ve found a way to enhance the natural beauty of wood and make it waterproof and hypo-allergenic. When moisture can’t be absorbed by the wood, there’s no worry about splinters, in fact, NobEssence sculptures are so silky smooth, caressing is believing.
Where can I buy?
Direct from this website here or from any of our Online or Retail partners here.
Does the finish on your toys contain ‘Phthalates’ or other toxic chemicals?
No Phthalates here! We use a completely Phthalate-free inert, odorless and colorless finish which forms an impermeable barrier to chemicals and bacteria. In fact, our toys are especially suitable for people who experience reactions to other materials or sensitivities to odors. Not only does nothing transfer from the toy to you, your exquisite scent will not transfer to your toy – simply give it a quick wash with mild soap and water.
What lubricants can I use?
Your NobEssence™ sculpture is compatible with popular commercially available lubricants – including but not limited to oils, water/glycerin and silicone-based lubricants. Because our toy’s finish is smooth and non-porous, it means that even a little lubrication goes a long way. Many of our testers chose to forgo lubricants altogether.
How do I look after my Toy?
Our exclusive proprietary finish means you can spend more time enjoying your toy and less time worrying about how to care for it. Between uses or between partners:
- Wash it with warm water and non-abrasive soap, or
- Wipe down with anti-bacterial/microbial cleaner (alcohol, bleach, peroxide, etc.)
Hold tight! They are slippery even without lubricants.
Then just rub it down with a soft cloth. You can leave your toy out in the open as you would any museum-quality sculptural art or store it in its premium storage box.
Please protect your investment from impact with other solid surfaces (hard floors, sinks, etc.) as this may decrease the aesthetic qualities of the finish and ultimately damage the woods’ internal cell structure – weakening it and making it more prone to damage. In the event that your toy impacts another solid surface, gently but firmly test the integrity of your toy before the next use. See also, “…minute spots and lines…”
Oh my! I have dropped my toy or feel/see a crack – How do I test the integrity of my toy’s finish?
The integrity of your finish may be tested by immersing in water for a few seconds and removing to inspect. If the area in question darkens in response to water AND when wiped remains damp when the surrounding area is dry, then your toy should be retired or replaced. Please read our warranty policy. Please note that if you have registered your toy and purchased an extended service contract you may qualify for repair or replacement.
Will my purchase be the same as the one in the picture?
Every toy is as unique as the people they give pleasure to, we never make two toys exactly the same. Every piece of wood has a different character: the color, grain and texture, the knots and whorls. We promise that you will be able to identify your distinct individual toy from all others.
Wood, as a natural product, continues to mature and change in color and shape over time. This and the fact that each toy is hand-sculpted mean that you may anticipate slight differences in measurements and shapes. We take special care to keep our toys with an 1/8th of an inch on smaller items and ¼ inch on our larger toys.
Will you make me a special item?
Thicker? Bumpier? Wavier? Darker or Lighter? Sure we’d love to! We have tried to give you as many options as possible and they’re all available in different woods, but if we don’t have what you want then we’d love to hear from you. Just get in touch and tell us what you have in mind. Contract and premium pricing may apply.
Where’s your wood from?
We grow our own trees for our products. [Tropical American Tree Farm]. Sometimes, especially with our more exotic woods, we need to buy wood – we visit, scrutinize and obtain certifications from our suppliers to make sure they manage their forests responsibly.
How discreet are you?
Not everyone wants to broadcast how much they enjoy our Sculptures. We ship them in plain boxes under the name NE Distribution with our PO Box address. NobEssence toys come with plush, velvet-lined storage boxes – if you don’t want to display them as sculpture in your home.
Unless you ask us not to, we’ll keep hold of your details to tell you about things we’re doing that might interest you. We keep our mailing list to ourselves, and we will not share it with anyone else without your permission.
How do you deliver?
We use the US Postal Service or UPS, and we insure and track all our orders. If you’re outside the US, please ask us about our delivery options.
How long will it take my order to arrive?
If you order direct from us, and we have what you want in stock, we’ll ship it within 72 hours. If you’ve asked for something special it might take a bit longer as we need to find the wood and carve it. In that case, we’ll get in touch and provide you an estimate.
If purchasing through one of our resellers, please consult their company’s posted shipping and delivery policies.
How do I know that the toy I am looking at is an authentic NobEssence product?
Each product sculpted by our staff bears our distinctive “n”-shaped registered trademark and impermeable proprietary finish.
